England vs Ghana Match Preview
England were very impressive in their opening game at the World Cup — a 4-2 victory over Croatia. They now take on Ghana on matchday two, who secured a victory in their first game thanks to a 95th minute winner against Panama.
England have all the credentials to go far in this competition, and their opening day display was enough to keep them high up on the lists of favourites for the competition. They were very impressive, scoring four goals against a decent side, but were pegged back on two occasions before pulling clear. This won’t be an easy game against a strong Ghana side who are also looking to get more points on the board.
Ghana have given themselves a good chance of qualification for the knockout stages with that late goal, but they’ll probably need at least a point against either England or Croatia to see themselves through. A heavy defeat in either game would likely see them drop out of the competition.
Over 2.5 England Team Goals @ 11/10
I can see goals again from England in this one. With four in their opener, against probably the second strongest side in the group, they are right up for it in attack. Throughout their World Cup qualification campaign, they scored a very good 22 goals in eight matches, conceding none along the way. With the formidable Harry Kane spearheading their attack, and the likes of Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka available for selection in wide areas, they have one of the strongest front lines in the competition. They also have goals from midfield, as shown in their game against Croatia, with Jude Bellingham getting on the scoresheet. In Ghana’s four friendlies this year, before the World Cup, they conceded two or more in three of them, losing five to Austria back in late March. I think there’s a good chance England will score more than 2.5 goals here.
Harry Kane to Score @ 8/11
Harry Kane is the obvious choice for a goalscorer in this one, and I don’t think 8/11 is too bad considering his goalscoring form. He bagged two in that opening game for the Three Lions, one from the spot, and scored eight in eight for England in the qualifying stages. For Bayern, he bagged a very impressive 61 goals in 63 appearances in all competitions last season. If England are to score more than three goals, which I think they could, I would be very surprised if Harry Kane didn’t chip in with at least one of them.
Jude Bellingham Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ 10/21
Jude Bellingham was on the scoresheet against Croatia, and I’m backing him to have at least one shot on target here against Ghana. I expect England to have the lions share of possession in this one, and push high up the pitch, allowing the likes of Bellingham to influence the game in the final third. A very good finisher, he will have the taste for a goal at the World Cup, and I think he will be on the hunt for another. Last season, he managed eight goals in all competitions for Real Madrid last season, with 27 shots on target in 28 league appearances, an average of just under one per game. I think he will have at least one shot on target here.
Marvin Senaya to be Booked @ 4/1
The player I’m backing for a booking is Ghana full-back Marvin Senaya. The Auxerre defender was carded six times in all competitions last season, five times in Ligue 1 and once in the Coupe de France. In the World Cup so far, he has made one foul in one appearance. He will be coming up against Anthony Gordon or Marcus Rashford here, who both played left wing for England in their opener, and would both be difficult direct opponents for Senaya. I think he will make a couple of fouls here, and I think 4/1 is very generous odds for him to pick up his first booking of the competition.

Alternative Bet — Kane to Score 2+ Goals at 7/2 (Boosting Builder to 25/1 with bet365)
7/2 is incredible odds for Kane to score two or more goals here, and would boost the odds of this bet builder to 25/1, with the best odds found with bet365. He did it in their opening game, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bag a couple again in this one.
